Season 15 quietly changes how serious Diablo 4 players should treat a well-rolled Unique. A strong drop might not be a temporary stepping stone anymore. It could be the base for your finished Mythic piece, so browsing Diablo 4 Items with upgrade plans in mind suddenly makes a lot more sense.
The Cube Turns Preparation Into Progress
The new Horadric Cube recipe, "Upgrade Direct Item to Mythic," does something refreshingly simple. It takes an eligible Unique and converts that same item into its Mythic version. No slot-based surprise. No hoping the result fits your build.
Your useful affixes, Tempering choices, and Masterworking investment are meant to stay attached. That matters. If you've spent hours tuning Tibault's Will, the upgrade doesn't throw away that work. You're improving one item, not starting from scratch with an unrelated drop.

Reality check: A mediocre Unique is still mediocre, even when the Cube gives it a Mythic glow.
Which Mythic Route Fits Your Build
There are now different ways to chase Mythic gear, and they suit different situations. The Cube is for players who already own the exact Unique they want. Jeweler Rune Crafting is better when you only care about a slot and can accept a less predictable result. The Blacksmith's Mythic Cache offers another route without the same special equipment restriction.

Not quite. The item must be eligible, and Cube-made Mythics carry a Crafted tag that limits simultaneous use to one.
Small Rules, Big Gear Decisions
Watch the Unmodifiable warning closely. Blizzard says the recipe won't work on an Unmodifiable item, and Transfiguring a valuable candidate may remove its eligibility. That's easy to miss while cleaning up your stash.
Season 15 also adds regular versions of Iconic Mythics and brings back Legacy Uniques, so character progression should feel less dependent on one lucky moment. Still, the Cube recipe is the change that most affects endgame planning. Keep the right Unique, improve it carefully, and only convert it when the whole build is ready. You'll probably spend fewer materials chasing replacements, especially after sorting your budget around D4 Gold for the season ahead.
